Editorial mission, standards, and contact
Our mission
The Briefing is an independent US political analysis publication based in Washington, D.C. We cover the White House, Congress, the courts, elections, and foreign policy with a singular goal: give readers a fast, well-sourced picture of what is happening in American politics — and why it matters — without noise.
Editorial standards
Every article is written and reviewed by a human editor. Where we cite reporting from other outlets, official statements, court filings, or government data, we link directly to the source. Opinions and analysis are labeled as such and are separate from news reporting.
Political disclaimers
The Briefing is not affiliated with any political party, candidate, campaign, PAC, or government agency. We do not accept payment in exchange for coverage. Analysis reflects the judgment of the author and editor at the time of publication and may be updated as new facts emerge.
